The convention appears to be that initial arguments appearing in the same position in all forms are passed positionally, and all subsequent arguments are passed by keyword, presumably to avoid possible ambiguity.
Define the value of each r_i in REDUCE_PREFIX without coining the term "generalized noncommutative reduction". This also shortens the description somewhat.
