v6 is restricted to golangci-lint v1 which was built with Go 1.24. Projects targeting Go 1.25+ fail with: "the Go language version (go1.24) used to build golangci-lint is lower than the targeted Go version" v7+ uses golangci-lint v2 which supports Go 1.25.
