Incorporation into gofmt or standard library?

Hey, thanks for taking on the upgrades on this. I found it while going through the Github corpus on Go linters and static code analyzers.

Why was it apparently abandoned by Russ Cox? Has any of it been incorporated into the standard library?

No worries if you're not sure about, and I can look into it more soon.
