Hi folks, this discussion is regarding the encoding, decoding, and availability of profile flags within the project, allowing us to (in future) provide things like achievement badges, as well as badges for LMG staff, and guests who have been on the show.
This spec is designed to try and store all this data in a format which is as space-efficient as possible, so as to minimize the amount of excess space needing to be trimmed from the database,
As it stands the flags are as follows:
Mask
Permission
Description
0b00000001
Owner
Represents me, the owner of the project, or whoever owns the project in the future
0b00000010
Arbitrator
Represents a user who has the power to overturn conflicts within the timestamp edit history.
0b00001000
Editor (Gilded)
Represents a user who has the power to authorize an edit to a timestamp (requires two people)
0b00010000
Editor
Represents a user who has the power to propose edits / changes to timestamps, episodes, and cast members
0b00100000
Moderator
Represents a user who has the power to remove live chat messages (for a planned feature), is automatically assigned to anyone with the LMG Staff flag
Whilst the permissions spec currently in use is masked with 8 bits, it can (and likely will) be expanded to higher bit counts in the future.
If anybody has any queries, suggestions, or edits to make to this, please post them before the discussion deadline of September 16th, 2023, as this will be when the permissions spec is integrated into the website.
