On a serious and technical note, Codename exclusively uses HScript (a scripting language subset of Haxe) for scripting due to it being API-compatible with the engine (which simplifies a LOT of things overall) and for performance reasons.

Most Lua implementations in Haxe don't use the standard Lua C library, which is essentially what makes Lua Lua, being very fast and very minimal; the lack of the standard Lua implementation is especially the case for an engine like Psych, where most functionality is reimplemented from scratch and is slower than Lua in the standard implementations.

Bird Engine provides Lua functionality on a Codename base, which may be what you want.
